As a pediatric nurse practitioner in primary care, over the last 20 years Dr. Jessica Peck has engaged, encouraged, equipped, and empowered families to raise holistically healthy kids. She guides parents to help navigate challenging parenting moments to escape shame and stigma with grace, hope, and courage.
A native Texan, she is a clinical professor at the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing. An internationally awarded nursing leader, she served as president of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Some of her recent awards include: Texas Nurse Practitioner of the Year, American Nurses Association Advocate of the Year, American Association of Nurse Practitioners Advocate State Award for Excellence, Lillian Wald Humanitarian Award from the National League for Nursing, and Distinguished Alumnus at both the University of Alabama and the University of Texas Medical Branch.
Most importantly, she has been happily married to a rocket scientist for nearly twenty-five years and is a mom of four teens.
A passionate advocate for underserved children and anti-trafficking, Dr. Peck equips families to promote physical, mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual health. She especially loves encouraging parents in her clinical practice and equipping them to build healthy relationships with their children. She speaks to nurses all over the world while also reaching out directly to parents so they feel engaged, equipped, encouraged, and empowered to raise resilient, holistically healthy kids.
Dr. Peck is an accomplished author of dozens of clinical articles for peer-reviewed journals, is a regular contributor to parenting magazines, and is a frequent guest on radio and television shows to promote the health of children. She has been a regular guest on The Nurse Practitioner Show on Sirius XM’s Doctor Radio and has also appeared on syndicates for CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox.

Recognizing signs mental health in our teens can be difficult in this day and age. Dr. Jessica Peck talks about the importance of connecting with our teens face to face and shares some tips to better understand where our teens are struggling. We have to view the world as they see it if we want to connect with or influence our teens worldviews. They discuss the L.O.V.E parenting model as well.

• Most common mental health issues in teens today are anxiety/depression and eating disorders. Some factors for these issues can include genetics and environmental.
• We tend to over-spiritualize mental health and think our faith isn’t strong enough in some cases.
