Dear friends,
What an amazing week it has been! Thanks to YOU, the launch of my new book Hero: Being the Strong Father Your Children Need has been going incredibly well. The book has really hit a nerve with folks in a positive way. Mostly, men have been telling me, “thank you for saying something nice about us.”
To everyone who pre-ordered or purchased Hero this week, or tweeted, posted, Instagrammed, or shared it with a friend, to you I say THANK YOU! Your support means so much to me and I really believe we are making a difference together, sending a message to the culture that dads are making a comeback!
Dads are making a comeback! #HeroDadBook
My heart is to help every father who has a child grow closer to that child and be a better dad. This truly is a mission and I am asking each and everyone of you to join me. We need each other to help men heal their own father wounds, grieve the abandonment they may have experienced as a boy in order to break the cycle and become great fathers to their kids.
If you are a mom, know this: whatever state the father of your kids is in, he needs help. He needs your help. Very importantly, your kids need you to help him. They are the ones who suffer most when dad is distant.
If you have a great husband and father to your kids, continue to encourage him to be even better. Dads have worn tremendous shame, some rightly earned, some not. But shame never makes you better. Encouragement does. Together I believe we can speak the kinds of encouraging words of life into our dads that empower them to rise up and take their rightful place once again.
So here’s where I need you to help me. Find a father you know who needs help. Rather than criticize, give him encouragement. Give him a copy of Hero. This isn’t about money, this is about sparking a long-overdue conversation in our country and homes that we need our dads back!
From the bottom of my heart,
Thank you.
