Maddy is in the sixth grade. Halfway through the school year, her mother noticed that he grades were slipping. She was having stomach aches and asking her mother if she could stay home from school. When her mother made her go, she would often get a call at work from Maddy, asking to be picked up. When her mother asked Maddy if anything was wrong at school she said nothing.
When Maddy’s mother spoke with her teacher, she said that she was a delight in class and that her classmates seemed to like her. She was nice to others and never saw any signs of trouble. As far as her grades, her teacher was concerned why they were slipping and thought that perhaps something was going on at home.
